A variety of days out to visit interesting places; to learn more about our area and explore new environments with a friendly group. Open to all Flintshire U3A members. Details of future activities appear in the newsletter and on the website.

We now have three computer groups for different levels of expertise ranging from absolute beginners to people who just like to dabble.

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY

This group is for interested photographers, or would be photographers, who would meet to share their experience, enthusiasm and/or expertise in order to spread the enjoyment of their hobby. A topic or theme is chosen each month and members invited to produce a photo, or photos, for consideration by the group, advice and tips being gratefully received.

EXPLORING SCIENCE

This new group had a very interesting first meeting discussing Earthquakes and Volcanoes. Future topics will include Astronomy, the Hovercraft and New Technology. Please click here to view full details, then come along and be amazed!

Chris -  2nd Tuesday of month from 14.00 to 16.00 at Glanrafon Centre, Mold.  The cost is £1 a session to cover accommodation and refreshments.

October - March (Indoor Season): 1st Friday of month at New Brighton Community Centre 14:00 -15:30

April - September (Outdoor Season): normally 1st Friday, but some Saturday outings.

Health and Happiness

To promote good health by sharing a collective well-being.  The Group will include meditation at most meetings and instruction in basic meditation will be given.

PHILOSOPHY

The meetings consist of open discussion of a Theme, for example, recent ones have been “Right and wrong”, “Democracy”, “Freedom”, and “What is Art?”.  Each Theme is based on part chapters in a book: “Philosophy-the basics”, which all members have and the discussion is led by an outline prepared before the meeting. No previous philosophical knowledge is required, just an open enquiring mind.

SOCIAL HISTORY

Social and local history explored in talks, discussions and visits to sites of interest.  All U3A members are welcome to attend any of the meetings.

  THEATRE GROUP

If you are interested in joining with people to enjoy the theatre together click here to see our program for the next few months. If you missed our last planning meeting and would like to join us please get your own ticket as Sue does not keep spares. You will be most welcome: we meet in the bar 15 minutes before the start.

WINE APPRECIATION

The maximum size of the Group is 12 with each participating member paying £5.00 per meeting.  A nominated member will select and research the wines to a value of £50.00, and lead the tasting and discussions.
